Spanish-speaking Resource Parents Have Access to Three More Training Courses at Fosterparentcollege.com®

January 19, 2021

Eugene, OR — Through no fault of their own, children in care are vulnerable to a number of risks. Because of unstable living environments, a lack of attachment to caregivers, the impact of chronic trauma, and a myriad of other factors, children in care are at increased risk for mental and physical health issues, as well as a heightened vulnerability to sex trafficking.

FosterParentCollege.com provides foster, adoptive, and kinship families with proven-effective interactive training throughout the United States, primarily through contracts with many states and agencies. Today, Foster Parent College announces that three additional parenting courses have been translated and dubbed into Spanish and added to the FPC website.

The newly released courses include El tráfico humano y la explotación sexual, based on the English-language course, Understanding Sex Trafficking; Niños que entran en el cuidado temporal: Problemas de salud física, based on Children Entering Care: Physical Health Issues; and Niños que entran en el cuidado temporal: Problemas de salud mental, based on Children Entering Care: Mental Health Issues. All three courses are required trainings for resource parents in the State of California.

“We are committed to the safety and well-being of children in care,” said Mr. Lee White, president of Foster Parent College. “We understand there are resource parents who prefer to learn in the Spanish language, and for the past 5 years, we have been continually working to provide our core training courses in Spanish. In addition to the three courses just released, I am pleased to announce that FPC staff is continuing to work with translator, Mr. Omar Canals, to translate and dub three more courses. Our goal is to eventually provide as many of our core courses in Spanish as we are able to.”

The recently released courses join 14 other Spanish-language courses offered by FosterParentCollege.com. All courses by FPC are self-paced and available online at any time—often at no cost to resource parents through the state contracts. The translated courses offer the same learning environment and interactivity as their English-language counterparts.
